FAQ

SEAT PURCHASE

What does purchasing a seat entitle you to?

In addition to helping Quebec City acquire a modern amphitheater, purchasing a seat gives you the right to the same seat when purchasing tickets for other events. In other words, you’ll enjoy access to advance ticket sales for your seat for all events in the new amphitheater. The purchase of a seat does not actually include any tickets for events. Also consult the section “Seat Management”. In addition, the seatholder’s name, or a name of the holder’s choice, will be inscribed on the seat.

How can I purchase a seat?

Fill out the intent to purchase form now.

When should I make the payment?

Payment will be required in early 2009 (possibly by late January) once a sufficient number of people have expressed their intent to purchase a seat. An acquisition agreement will have to be filled out and will testify to your property right.

Can I pay for my seat in a number of installments?

No. The entire amount must be paid in one installment. However, Desjardins will soon make financing available.

How does Desjardin’s financing work?

Desjardins will make financing possible through Accès D. The terms of this financing will be announced in the coming weeks.

Who will have priority in the choice of seats?

Priority for seat choice will be established according to the date that letters of intent are received, i.e. on a first come, first served basis. As soon as your letter of intent is received, a number will be assigned and mailed to you. We are part of a group.

Who should send in the letter of intent?

Ideally, one application per purchaser should be sent, whether it is for one or multiple seats. This simplifies payment and protects signatories in case of non-payment by one of the group members. A group mailing of letters of intent allows members of your group to choose your seats at the same time. Note that individual seats can only belong to one person. If more than one person wants to purchase a seat, the application must be made under one name only.

Are seat purchases tax deductible?

No, because your contribution entitles you to a benefit. Is it possible to make a donation without purchasing a seat? Not for the moment. However, eventually it will be possible to do so.

SEAT MANAGEMENT

Once the amphitheater is in operation, how will tickets be sold for events?

Seat owners will be able to prepurchase tickets for a limited time for the seat or seats they hold. If they do not take advantage of their purchase priority, their seats will then be offered to the general public at the same time that tickets are officially put on sale. It is important to remember that purchase priority applies only to seats held.

What happens when my seat is behind the stage during a show?

You will be eligible for a second presale and will be allowed to buy tickets for seats whose owners have not bought a ticket, or for unowned seats.

Will it be possible to assign or transfer seat rights?

Yes, according to the conditions stipulated in the contract. In particular, seat rights are transferable to heirs in case of death.

If there should happen to be a professional sports team, how will season tickets be allocated?

A presale will be available to seat owners. If you do not take advantage of your right, season ticket holders for these seats have purchase priority for subsequent years. If a purchaser relinquishes his season tickets, you can reclaim your option on these seats.

Note: It will still be possible to purchase season tickets and resell them later in order to keep your priority for these seats.

Take the example of Montréal Canadiens season tickets. For Bell Centre regular season ticket holders, there is a market through which seat right holders maintain their right to renew purchase of their season tickets. In the event they are unable to buy the season tickets due to personal finances, a move or any other reason, they can sell them on this market without relinquishing their long-term seat rights. Another sports fan can then purchase the season tickets for the season in question from the main ticket holder without acquiring their seat rights. This setup is a form of secondary market.

The same kind of market for season tickets will be available for a professional sports team in Québec City. In addition, if you decide to relinquish the privileges that your seat affords you, you can sell your seat rights to another customer through the secondary market and recover your original investment and even more.

Remember, also, that even if you relinquish your right to a season ticket, you still retain it for other events.

MANAGEMENT OF MONEY COLLECTED

Where will money collected from seat sales be placed?

Money collected will be placed in trust at Desjardins, and managed by Morency Avocats and Mallette, chartered accountants.

Where will interest from seat sales go?

Interest from seat sales will be used to cover project management costs. If the project is not carried out, remaining interest will be paid to the City of Québec and put into a fund for sports and culture. If the project fails, seat purchasers will receive only the original amount paid. If the plan doesn’t work, when will the money be repaid? Since the financial package may take anywhere from 24 to 36 months to put together, it will be difficult to know before that time if the undertaking is feasible. However, if for one reason or another, it becomes clear that the project will not go ahead, the money will be returned to purchasers as soon as possible.
