THE NEW COLISEUM

Inspired of Quebec's History!

The architecture of the future of sport-concerts arena is based on Quebec's maritime history. The idea behind is the implementation of the maritime wealth in the architectural design. By matching wood, steel and rope, the new Coliseum will have a shipbuilding style. There will be a pool of water all around the building, creating a recreation area during the summer, while the population can enjoy an ice rink in winter.

The exterior of the amphitheater will be built to create a public square for the entire population of Quebec. Giant screens will be installed outside the building, which will allow people to participate in activities taking place inside the Coliseum.

The main hall is the dock with the ice below. A replica of ship masts will retain the glass wall that encircle the building.

The New Coliseum and its Multiple Attributes

The amphitheater will contain around 100 corporate lounges that will offer a warm atmosphere, to correspond to businesses standards.

This image shows the Club Zone, which will be built at the rear section of the same name. The festive space, reserved exclusively for holders of seats in the Club Zone, is composed of bars and restaurants. Food and soft drinks will be included with the ticket price, but alcoholic beverages will be at the expense of consumers. In addition of having constant access to what happens in the auditorium with giant screens, this place will be conducive to business relationships.

A similar section, but for families, will be created for the balconiy level. This is comparable to the area Desjardins at the Bell Centre in terms of service and food offered.

The auditorium will be transformed in a very short time to make it multifunctional and adapted to current needs. This photo shows the development of the imposing wooden structure.

In less than three hours, it will be possible to move from a NHL standards hockey arena to international hockey or basketball. In addition, the lower bowl will be water, which will be able to change the angle, and thus approach the spectators of the scene. In this way, very few viewers will have a seat without inclination.

Different configurations are also possible for theater. The new Coliseum will feature the latest technology and sound stage to allow the presentation of performances of all sizes. For example, it will be possible to produce a show that can accommodate 20,000 people, or a theater piece seating between 1,800 and 5,000 people.

In all cases, the steps used will be enclosed by curtains, acoustic, allowing a better atmosphere and greater technical quality.

Futur Arena Plans

A large hall will surround the building at Ground floor. It will include exhibitions including permanent and temporary food services and shops open to the public.

At Lodges level, we find the first floor of corporate lounges at the ends and center of the amphitheater. A Club area will be located at this level, more precisely between the two red lines the rink.

The Mezzanine level will house the majority of corporate lounges. It will include also the second part of the area club, which communicate with one located at the Lodges.

At this level, we find the third and final section of the club area, which is independent of the other two sections of the area.

Thanks to ABCP for having drawn the plans of Quebec's futur Coliseum.
